As I continue on my journey to show appreciation to fellow writers, bloggers, acquaintances, and friends, on day 10 of my “December Daydreams” collection, I find inspiration from Alternative Sunny Days by K.T. Decker site name. K.T. is one of my first followers, a top commenter, and someone I enjoy reading regularly. You should check out her blog!

December Daydreams 10 – “She Always Sang to Blackbirds”

Monday morning,
thoughts are like landslides,
as I type words from an old typewriter
her grandfather gave her as a child,
all I can think about is how she lugged that monstrosity
across inhospitable country and back to hell again.

As I struggle to navigate the old wooden docks,
I still see her prancing around the pier
she was sweet and sour, an alternative sunny day
with a girlish grin and a fickle disposition.

She always sang to blackbirds
and believed she could fly without wings,
she was bold, and defiant, but also kind and sincere.

As I stare across the crystalline lake,
ghosts sing songs to the beat of Florida rain…

  1. Thank you for letting me know. Duality has been a common theme in my life, so it means a lot that you picked it up and it resonated. Appreciate your comment. All the best, Brian
