December Daydreams 01 – “Ink in Her Veins”

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m writing a poem a day during December, in honor of friends and fellow bloggers, using their username, blog title, tagline, and/or poetry, as the source of inspiration. I’ve decided to call my collection “December Daydreams”. Since I adopted the idea from Tara Caribou, I think it’s only fitting that she’s the first inspiration in my series. I highly recommend you visit Tara’s site!

December Daydreams 01 – “Ink in Her Veins

Beneath layers of winter white,

the world’s womb shivers,

as hard ground shakes and groans,

unearthing warm words from mud, blood, and soul,

with a heart like a drum, ink in her veins,

she writes of wild Alaskan nights and wilderness.

Caught in the bellowing breeze,

as icy winds whistle and wail,

snow covered Sitka Spruce’s bend and bow,

in honor of her beauty and depth.

  1. That’s awesome! And you’re way ahead of me. I haven’t even begun to start mine for this month. Been too busy typing up a paper for school. Lol 🙂
